Synopsis
In 1955, spirited third-grader Shinko, with her distinctive "Mai Mai" curl, explores her peaceful rural town of Kokuga, a place steeped in Heian Period history. When quiet city girl Kiiko transfers from Tokyo, the two form an unlikely friendship amidst the backdrop of ancient ruins and shared daydreams.
